Pedro Boregaard
In 1966, following training at renowned Hemmerle, Jeweler, in Munich, Germany, Pedro Boregaard worked for several years as a jeweler in London and Nottingham, England, before settling in New York City in 1974. He started at the top, at Tiffany & Co., where he worked for seven years and rose to head a workshop of 40 jewelers. His work there was primarily developing and executing the designs of Tiffany’s star designers. Paloma Picasso, Elsa Peretti and Angela Cummings have each acknowledged his creative contributions to their collections.
In 1983, he left Tiffany & Co. to open his own design workshop on 48th Street across from Rockefeller Center, where he quickly established himself by winning numerous international design competitions. His jewelry was soon sold in selected stores throughout the United States. In 1994, Boregaard opened an elegant showroom on 53rd Street and Madison Avenue, an address soon to be known to a discerning international clientele.
In 2005, after losing his lease to make room for another high-rise in midtown Manhattan, Boregaard split his business, opening a workshop on Broadway and Lafayette in Manhattan and establishing a design and model-making operation in the country. This year, his 28th in business, Pedro Boregaard opened a retail shop at 101 Main Street in Narrowsburg, New York, a quintessential “upstate” town along the picturesque Delaware River.
